Hammond Ranch Sues Love's

Despite a year and a half of thoughtful and compelling testimony from residents of Hammond Ranch and the City of Weed of why placing an enormous Truck Stop less than a thousand feet from a residential area and in designated Extreme Fire Danger by Cal Fire, they voted to allow a Love's Truck Stop on the West side of I-5.

The City never looked at the alternative on the East side of I-5 where there is already a truck stop and traditionally Love's and Pilot have co-existed side by side in other locations in California and in other states.

Hammond Ranch residents have said they do not mind commercial businesses on the West side that are appropriately sized for residential and travelers as the original 2017 General Plan proposed. However, the Weed City Council stated since we are not in the City Limits Hammond Ranch has no say in the matter despite the fact that residents will be breathing the polluted air of 1,200 cars and 600 trucks PER DAY in addition to the fire danger of 3000-5,000 non-residents visiting this area everyday. If built this Truck Stop would be closer to an existing residential area and in an extreme fire danger than any other Love's Truck Stop.

Hammond Ranch Land Owners Association has filed a law suit to stop this project on the West-side of I-5 in order to protect the lives and property of both Hammond Ranch and Weed Residents.
